Farmer Phil's Ruby Red Cabbage

Ruby Red Cabbage

Ruby Red cabbage is considered the oldest known vegetable. In the present, it’s used in various cuisines, including in salads and stir-fries. As a cool season vegetable, red cabbage needs to be planted 24 inches apart in rows 30 inches apart and needs about six to eight hours per day. The plant needs full sun and moderate to regular watering. Additionally, red cabbage should be fertilized twice before heads appear. This type of cabbage takes about 70 to 85 days to mature and, when ready, should have a head weighing three pounds.

Harvest: 80 days.
Exposure: Full sun.
Water Needs: Moderate to regular water.
Fertilizer: Fertilize 2x before heads appear.
