Basil Varieties

If you’re looking for an herb that yields a large amount per square foot, basil is the plant to add to your garden. Basil has one of the highest efficiency ratings, although some types of basil yield more leaves than others. All types, however, need full sun and moist but well-drained soil to grow and, when fully mature, can be 12 to 24 inches tall. Place each transplant about 12 inches apart when adding basil to your garden.
